AB News has discovered that the Arakan Army has captured 3 strategic military installations of SAC’s in Maungdaw, including the heavily-manned Kyeekanprun Military Headquarters, Nakhakha (2), and Nakhakha (10) aka Hlaphoekhaung Nakhakha and approximately 1200 of their troops have fled with weapons.
A resident told AB News that the Arakan Army captured three camps of the terrorist military council on May 2nd and May 3rd, located on the Rakhine-Bengal border road.
He said, “Nakhakha (2) was captured at 10 O’clock today. Approximately 400 troops fled, and the headquarters of Kyeekanprun was captured at 3 O’clock last night. When AA was about to attack, they fled in batches at 1 a.m. About 500 troops from the headquarters fled.”Similarly, about 300 soldiers escaped from Hla Pho Khaung Nakhakha (10) after AA has captured the camp, according to local residents.
Approximately 1200 SAC soldiers from Kyeekanprun Headquarters, Hla Pho Kaung Nakhakha (10), and Nakhakha (2) combined fled with weapons towards Kanyin Chaung Economic Zone. Many Muslim recruits, reportedly, were among the military council soldiers who fled.
It was reported that a helicopter came and picked up some officers at 10 a.m. from Hla Pho Khaung Camp, while more than 50 soldiers surrendered to Arakan Army.
Meanwhile, Arakan Army is vigorously engaging in offensive attacks against SAC’s strategic military installations in Butheedaung, Maungdaw, Ann and Thandwe townships. On April 30, AA successfully captured the Micro Hill Military Camp of SAC on Maungdaw-Butheedaung Road.
It was learned that the remaining camps in Maungdaw township are Mawrawaddi Byuha, Indein, Mrun Hlut, U Daung Border Guard, Ale Than Gyaw, Pandoe Prun, Magyee Chaung, Mrothu Gree Nakhakha (5), Paung Zar and Lapaw Zar.
