Seven people, including three members of a family, were killed, and at least ten others sustained severe injuries, AB News has learned.

The fatalities include:

• Ko Nyi Lay, 50, husband of Daw Ma Tin Aung from the eastern side of the High School in Lin Thi village near Shwe Hle Bridge
• Two of his daughters, both over 20
• Daw May Pu Yay, 33
• Her husband, Maung Lay, 35
• U Maung Tin Nyunt
• Daw May Lillion

On May 14, at about 9 p.m., the terrorist military council fired artillery shells into Lin Thi village from Bar Taw Hill. The shells landed on Ko Nyi Lay’s house, causing the explosion that killed the victims, a villager told AB News.

“It was around 9 p.m. when they fired. Two shells landed in the village, one on Ko Nyi Lay’s house, killing three family members. I witnessed seven people killed, including them, and many others injured,” he said.

The injured were taken to the nearest hospital by Toke-Toke, according to villagers who spoke to AB News. AB News is still investigating the names of those injured.

“There was a couple among those killed. They were visiting Ko Nyi Lay’s home when the artillery shell landed and exploded, killing them on the spot,” the villager added. “Their children ran away and escaped.”

Residents of Lin Thi village, which has over 280 households, are now living in fear because of the shelling.

Similarly, yesterday, due to artillery shelling by the terrorist military council, four individuals sustained severe injuries in Aut Nat Maw village.

Today, May 14, at around 11 a.m., three villagers were killed and at least five were injured when the military council bombed Kin Chaung village in Maungdaw township with a fighter jet, according to reports.

Locals have reported that the Arakan Army and the Military Council are currently engaged in intense fighting.
