Within a span of 2 months, from February 27 to March, the military council launched 4 airstrikes on Thekan Village, Minpya Township, Rakhine, injuring no less than 20 civilians, including 1 monk, whilst more than 30 homes, 2 schools and 1 monastery were destroyed, it has been reported.
And yesterday, on March 29 at past 11:00 p.m. 3 fighter jets dropped no less than 10 bombs on the same village. 10 homes were destroyed and 2 individuals, Ashin Pyinyarbala, 57-year-old monk from Pyinyarbiman Monastery of Thekan Village and U San Tun, 77 year-old, were injured.
According to a villager who spoke with AB News, people had to evacuate to save their lives due to the aerial attack that occurred in the middle of the night. He explained that they were attacked while sleeping and had to flee due to many bombs being dropped.
It has been discovered that the wounded individuals were transported to the closest medical facility.
The following individuals lost their homes: U Maung Phru, U Maung Sein Thar, U Thein Mra, U Maung Oo, U Kyaw Nyein Maung, U Kyaw Sein Khaing, Daw Ma Sein Hla, Daw U Ma Sein, U Maung Ba Han, U Maung Than Mya and U Than Win Chay.
Similar attacks were launched on:
March 24, 2024: at 1:04 a.m. 1 fighter jet bombed the village and destroyed the homes of U Hla Kyaw Thein, Daw Wei Nu Kyi and U Nga Yaung. Daw Than Than Htay lost a rice mill. The villagers told the AB News.
March 6, 2024: at 11:40 p.m. a fighter jet dropped at least 3 200-Lb bombs on the village near Ramaung Bridge and destroyed 5 houses.
Due to the military council’s daily attacks, local residents were forced to flee to safer areas.
February 27, 2024: at 1:25 a.m, fighter jets bombed the village. No less than 18 refugees were injured and 12 homes, 2 schools were destroyed.
Currently, the military council has intensified their aerial assaults on Thekan Village, resulting in a rising number of casualties and destruction of religious structures and civilian homes.
