The military council attacks Pauktaw Township with aerial strikes and artillery, injuring 3 villagers seriously, including an abbot of a Buddhist temple aged 90 years old, whose Sasana year is 70, and an IDP who was taking shelter in the village.

On June 16, at around 12:45 midnight, the Krein Khwe Maw village in Pauktaw Township was attacked by the terrorist military council. It was reported that 3 villagers, including the abbot of the Buddhist monastery and an IDP of war, were hit by bomb splinters and shells and received life-threatening injuries.

One villager told AB News that at around 12:45 am on June 16, 2024, at midnight when the villagers were sleeping soundly, the soldiers of the military council repeatedly bombarded the village with Y-12 attacking helicopters. Besides, at the same time, they launched cluster rocket shells from Sittwe City targeting the Village. 

“It was midnight at around 12; 45 am when people were all asleep. It was a time when the people could no longer recognize the sound of the plane. At this time, the village included the monastery hit by bombs and artillery shells in the village on purpose. The number of bombs surged from the air and a series of missiles from Sittwe, nobody could even count. The soldiers were launching bombs and with a series of missiles,” he said.

The injured are (1) an abbot 90 years old, Sasana year 70, of the Buddhist monastery at Krein Khwe Maw village, Venerable Vilasa (2) 80-year-old U Oo Hla Sein whom bomb hit on his right thigh; (3) 16-year-old Maung Min Naing, son of U Saw Hla Maung, who received splinters on his right leg severely.  (4) U Sein Aung Min’s daughter, 42-year-old IDP Daw U Yin Sein, received bomb splinters on her right arm and elbow. 

The military council is committing war crimes continuously by targeting large areas of residential areas, religious buildings, schools, hospitals, community gathering places, rural clinics, etc, which are not military targets.
