AB News – June 9, 2024

Locals said that at around 2:30 p.m. today, the military council with a fighter jet carried out a bombardment in Minbya town killing 1 woman on the spot and destroying one religious building.

The victim was identified as a 43-year-old woman Yein Yein Aye D/o U Aung Thein Kyaw of Sun Re Road, Central Ward, Minbya town.

Due to the bombardment by the terrorist military council, Yein Yein Aye was killed by receiving bomb splinters all over her body and her hips. 1 resident of the town confirmed that the Buddhist monastery roof and many valuable religious items inside the temple were damaged.

“The Jet Fighter came flying over the town to strike at around 2:30 in the afternoon. Dropped bombs targeting residential areas, and 1 woman died on the spot who was in her home at that time. A monastery was wrecked. There is nothing left. A lot of things were damaged in the monastery,” a local said.

Among other injured are Baddanda Aggvana (43), the principal monk of the monastery, who has 22 monkhood life wounded with a bomb splinter on his head, 9-year-old child Ma Ree Thuma D/o U Yee Yaing was injured on her left hand, 12-year-old child Ko Ko Maung S/o U Yine Maung Thein received splinter on his left hand. An ox was killed on the spot in Kai Gree (Mro Ethnicity) village, Maungdaw.

In Arakan, the military council is blatantly violating War crimes by firing and attacking with heavy weapons targeting civilians, religious infrastructures, hospitals, and the places where people are taking shelter who were forced to flee the war without distinguishing between military and civil parties.
