Escalating Violence: Terrorist Muslim Militants Abduct and Kill Non-Muslims along Bangladesh-Rakhine Border

AB News- July 25, 2024

According to reports from local residents, terrorist Muslim militant groups such as ARSA and RSO on the Rakhine side of the Bangladesh-Rakhine border have been continuously committing abductions and killings of non-Muslims.

A reliable local source told AB News that on July 20th, around noon, about 10 ARSA militants abducted and killed three cattle traders from Min Gyi village and Ta Rein village in Maungdaw Township.

“The ARSA members have significantly increased killings and robberies along this side of the border. Locals have to be cautious when travelling. ARSA members are present in various forms everywhere. They particularly target those with money, abducting and robbing them. Then they silence them. We witnessed this firsthand,” he said.

The victims of the ARSA group’s abductions and killings are 33-year-old Kyan Thein Maung and 30-year-old Naing Soe Win from Min Gyi village, and 35-year-old Maung San Thar from Ta Rein village.

The two cattle traders from Min Gyi village were returning home after trading their cattle when they were robbed, abducted, and killed by ARSA militants. Maung San Thar from Ta Rein village was abducted while on his way to Taungbro market for shopping. Locals told AB News that all three were shot and killed at the same time and place.

“There are eyewitnesses who saw the shooting. The ARSA group did it. There were about 10 of them, some wearing uniforms and others in civilian clothes. They took all the money and shot the people. We couldn’t do anything but hide,” one of the eyewitnesses said.

Additionally, it is reported that 47-year-old Pan Sein Maung, son of U Aung Thwee and 38-year-old Zaw Htun Win, son of U Maung Aye Thar, from Pyar Thar village, Maungdaw Township, were also abducted by ARSA militants around 4 PM on July 20th. There has been no contact with them up to today, July 25th.

However, a villager confirmed to AB News that on July 21st, traces believed to be signs of torture of the two abducted men, kneeling down, were found near the western side of Kyikanpyin village (South).

On the Maungdaw Township side of the Bangladesh-Rakhine border, militant Muslim terrorist groups are spreading in various forms, increasingly abducting, robbing, and killing locals compared to before.
